I'm Gonna Wash That Blond Right Outta My Hair

So last Saturday, I took the plunge and went to a brand-spankin'-new salon in San Jose called 5 Color Cowboy. I found this place off of yelp.com, which has been very helpful. True, it's all based on customer reviews, which need to be taken with a grain of salt, but I figured that not much harm could come out of keeping an open mind. The salon itself was very nicely decorated in a trendy Asian theme and the place was hopping with business, which I took as a good sign. What was most important was that all the stylists had "good hair", which boded well for even my head of hair.

So, no more blonde highlights for me - they were eating up my hair and making it generally look like crap (especially on the ends). Not only did the my stylist do a great job coloring my hair, she also colored my eyebrows so they'd match. At first, I was a bit worried because, after putting the goup on my eyebrows, I looked strikingly similar to Groucho Marx, but without the mustache. My stylist, Angel, assured me that it was just a temporary effect, which made me feel slightly better. After about an hour and a half of being pampered, I left the salon with considerably better hair than when I went in, which is what Angel had promised. I have achieved what I thought was the impossible - I found a stylist who has proven herself a worthy "tamer of the tresses".

LOL, that's MY criteria too. I quit a salon, where all the stylists had orange or purple spiked hair. They kept trying to pressure me into 'jazzing up' my style.

TSHS - Your experience is similar to the time I got a belly button ring from a guy who had many pictures on his wall of people hurting other people. Note to self: do not get piercings from guys who are into weird shit. :-P

Isn't it great to find a good stylist. I finally found someone who does miracles with my hair and eyebrows. I may have to color my hair some day but I haven't done it before just because I hate that you have to maintain it and I am a lazy ass. Your hair looks great by the way!

Thanks Angelique. The color that I had her change my hair to is very close to my natural color, so maintenance should not be bad. My main goal was to get rid of the blond.

My hair, which was once light brown and formerly fair and curly, is now a managable sparse and gray.
But Rosemary's hair is Clairol
Nice and easy, colored with
Number one hundred and twelve A.

I am the guy who does the job occasionally and it becomes a comedy act when Rosemary calls me Cyril the gay hair dresser.

Both Notta and Pf Angelique you have great hair.

Never seen tshsmom's hair, but would love to see it in multi colored Spikes, it would give you a greater out-going experience and possibly wilder boudoir activity.

Must have pictures please.

Have a nice hair day ladies.xxx

Well, Clairol would certainly be cheaper! More power to Rosemary, and kudos for being her hairdresser. :-P

My life changed (well, only slightly, but still) when Richard convinced me to go to a salon called "Mango" instead of to, say, Supercuts. These days I can just comb and go! Praise be to the miracle-working stylists of the world! (My mom's cuts are great, too, but she lives in Minnesota. Bit of a way to go for a cut.)
Your color looks great - I wouldn't know it wasn't natural.

SME - Yep, I'm convinced that you get what you pay for when trying to find a good sylist. Thanks - I love my color! Makes me wonder why I resisted for so long. :-P

Thanks SME!
I'll see if I can fit you into my schedule for a cut this summer. ;)

Kit - It's sad that it took me longer to find a good stylist than the time it took me to find a good dentist and doctor. It should not be difficult to find good hair. :-P

A good dentist and dr are more important (and just as hard to find as good stylists, sometimes)! My dr. retired over a year ago, and I've yet to find a decent replacement who isn't booked up til my 50th birthday.
P.S. - I've added you to my blogroll, if that's alright with you.

SME - Oh, yes, that's fine - I'm flattered. :-) I'll do the same!

Thanks, Bert. Yep, I'll definitely go back. A girl deserves some pampering every now and then. ;-)
